I mostly stick to Lego brand blocks, but one of my biggest exceptions are the KRE-O Star Trek collection and the MegaBloks Star Trek Collection. I've gotten several of these sets, built them all, and kept some for display. Others have been disassembled and put into my general collection.
KRE-O Star Trek
I have built the Enterprise model they have. It's one of the few starships I've built that isn't hanging on a fishing wire, because it's very solid and heavy, so it's on a shelf. The top half of the saucer section comes off to reveal a bridge. So yeah, the scale is way off, but it's a neat thing. Most of this one is built in large pieces except for the saucer, so it really can't be disassembled well. But there are lots of flashy blue lights with it.
I've also built the Bird-of-Prey ship - it IS hanging in my room. The wings can be adjusted up and down, and it can hold a minifigure inside, if I remember correctly.
I did build the Volcano Mission, and take it apart, along with the Transporter Trouble set and two of the Space Dive sets.
I also have three of the four micro ships: Enterprise, D7, and Jellyfish. I did not get the Kelvin. And I ended up with a lot of the minifigs from blind packs (not shown here).
MegaBloks Star Trek
The MegaBloks Star Trek set, though has much nicer minifigs and visual elements. I didn't get the Enterprise from this set, but I did get the D7, the bridge, and the transporter room sets. There were also a couple of smaller sets in the collection I didn't get.
Here's the bridge, opened up to sit on top of a shelf. Scotty's station can be rolled in to make it more bridge-shape, or Spock's station can be pushed out to stretch it longways. But the faces on the minifigs are pretty decent likenesses, and the control panels are fantastic.
The transporter room does the same thing, rolling in to make a round room or out to stretch out. I've added the control panel from the Day of the Dove set to the end of it here. And you can see a little bit of the KRE-O Enterprises on the next shelf down.
The transporter room set has two things I think are really cool. There's a gold figure that is mid-transport to put on the pads - that's awesome. and the green-and-white panels in the back of the pads came in two kinds - there are three as you see them there, and there are three with the Mirror Universe symbol on them. The minifigures that came with this set are from Mirror Universe, with the sashes and the sexier costumes and facial hair. But since there are also regular transporter room panels, this set can also be integrated into the other playsets with the non-Mirror Universe figures.
And here is my D7 ship, hanging out in my room with the other ships. It has just a single light-up brick, but it shines a red light out of the dome on the bottom of the head. I think it's intended to be a phaser beam, but could also be a tractor beam.
